Interactive Hand Puppet Workshop for the V&A's Digital Design Weekend!

We are very pleased to announce that we will be running our second workshop as part of the V&A's 2013 Digital Design Weekend on Sunday 22nd September!

The Digital Design Weekend celebrates digital arts and design and is always packed with activity including interactive installations, workshops, performances, screenings and talks. Events include Interactive textiles and MRSA quilt making with Anna Dumitriu, Kevin Cole & Dr John Paul, an interactive fan workshop with Katrin Baumgarten for MzTEK, MaKey MaKey demos by Codasign and an interactive installation in the John Madejski Garden by Yuri Suzuki called Garden of Russolo.

We will be running a workshop which teaches people how to make their very own monster hand puppet! The session will introduce participants to basic electronics and the process it takes to build a simple circuit, in this case stitching one. They will embed electronics into their hand puppet using conductive thread and fabric, also creating a soft circuit button to make their new friend interactive.

Please see our workshop page for more information and how to sign up.

Phoenix Brighton Workshop

Last weekend we ran our first workshop under the guise of The Conductive Kit Company! It took place the Phoenix Brighton and we taught people how to make papercraft robots with light-up eyes.

Participants learned about basic electronics and how to construct a circuit. In this case we used Bare Conductive's super cool conductive paint and adorned our little robots with LEDs and LDRs, making both series and parallel circuits.
